Kimball came to Visit

Yesterday, Kate brought Kimball over. We had a great visit with the two of them. Although Grandpa Ed was confined to his chair, he still enjoyed holding Kimball for a few minutes. The two of them get along great. Kimball especially likes Grandpa's TV when it puts on a blue screen (no stations showing.)

Kate let Kimball try one of Grandma's pink Valentine Cookies. It was a first for Kimball and he quite liked it. He made a big mess, so Grandma had to wash his clothes quick before pink dye became a permanent part of the blue fabric.

We watched a good movie, "The Gods Must be Crazy II." We needed to laugh and this was a good movie to do it in. We are getting good use out of the Hoff's Christmas present of a month of Netflix. We'll definitely keep the membership. It's the best way to rent movies.

Today I had to run errands. Ed got out of the house and sat in the car when I ran into stores. It was a real switch-around with me doing all the driving. We picked up a seven photo picture from Fotogenix that we had taken the week before Ed's surgery. This was one photo shoot when every picture turned out good, so of course, we ordered more than the $5 11x14 we went in for.

We put in the entry hall. We've decided it was worth it!

Something to add to the other post...

Deanna told me that years ago when I was making cabbage patch dolls, I made one for her. She later gave it back to me. I forgot about that and so when Kim was looking for the doll I made her, I thought this one was Kim's doll, but she insisted it wasn't. I guess that explains it.

She also told me that I made one for my niece, Sherri. Sherri is Eddie's age. She still has that cabbage patch doll and she still loves it. It's nice to know that. I guess that is a good reward for service I did long ago.

Learned something new...

I had a nice conversation with my sister, Deanna, today (1 hr. 30 min.). The talk turned to my Brazilian Mission. She told me that a common pioneer ancestor, Parley P. Pratt was called to serve a mission in Brazil. He was there several months but was never able to learn the language. He studied it before he went and afterward, but to no avail. So, if this brilliant man couldn't learn Portuguese, then maybe that explains why I had such a tough time--it just wasn't in the genes.

The weather was a balmy 60 degrees today. There is absolutely no snow in our front yard. This means that spring is on its way. Maybe I can go four-wheeling with Derek some Saturday.

We booked tickets for the grandchildren to come to Utah during spring break in March, since we can't go to Texas. That's something for all of us to look forward to.

Am a little under the weather with an earache. Got to lick this in the bud! Can't have two sick people in the house.

Moving On!

Today marks the first post of my new blog. We leave our Brazil Mission blog behind. As time passes I hope my blogging children will give me pointers so that I might make this the best blog ever.

Ed is home from the hospital and we have high hopes that we are on the downhill run, now.

Three days ago (Friday) I indulged myself for an hour and finished reading a really great book I started two weeks prior, "The Enchanted April" by Elizabeth Von Arnim. It is a happy-feeling book and I highly recommend it.

We are enjoying NetFlix thanks to Amber and Chad's Christmas gift. Two great movies we've seen are "Catch me if you Can" and "Made of Honor." These are not heavy movies, so they leave you geeling good. I opted out of "Dark Knight," after recommendations from Kim and Kate, although Ed did watch it and had to agree with them that it really was very dark!

The weather is warming up and all the snow on our front yard is melted and the grass showing. It's always been an interesting phenomenon to me that the snow remains across the street on all the yards, including the drifts for a couple weeks after the snow on our side melts. We face south, but they still get the sun. Go figure.

With spring on its way, I intend to start hiking in a couple of weeks and get in shape for our ward pioneer trek in June.
